Born and raised in Istanbul, Ece Özel studied painting at Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University.

She worked as a fashion stylist for nearly fifteen years and continues to perform as an active DJ around the world.

Her work explores the dynamics between the human body and fragments of life, searching for the points where personal memory intersects with an ambient form of memory, shaped by the mind's quiet tendency to fill in what cannot be fully remembered.

She is interested in how these traces shape our sense of presence and identity. The paintings are composed of intense atmospheric fragments in which the conventional boundaries of time and space dissolve. By avoiding sharply defined figurative forms, Özel evokes moments that exist on the threshold between dream and reality. Like a film frame, the blink of an eye, the speed of a camera shutter, or a bass sequence we do not hear but only sense, these fragments become part of a personal archive. This approach is not simply a questioning of reality; it is also an invitation to confront the superficial aesthetics that glorif y the allure of the present, where everything is perceived as equally transient.
